  1. My husband and I recently completed our PADI Open Water Diver Certification with Rob Willsher while vacationing in Anguilla. We did our knowledge development online prior to making the trip and the confined and open water dives there. To anyone considering working with Vigilant Divers, we would highly recommend Rob Willsher! It took years for me to work up the courage to try scuba diving, and I was very nervous and scared to be doing the course. Rob is great to work with – very patient, explains things well, fun and entertaining, and makes sure no details are missed. Rob helped me feel very safe and confident in my skills, and I was able to learn at my own pace. I never felt rushed; yet, I was challenged. We practiced our skills and dove in several different places, allowing us to experience different environments, various aquatic life, diving a wreck, and more. We travel all over the world and are considering revisiting Anguilla just to work with Rob again on another certification or specialty course. Ray helped us out while on the Vigilant and was a pleasure to spend time with as well.

Thanks so much, Rob and Ray!

  2. Spent a great week with Rob Wilsher and Ray. Dove five straight days with my family. Wife and younger son recently got certified and this was their first open water diving experience. Vigilant gave them the attention and comfort to really ease into the diving world.
Solid in his safety briefs and explaination of each dive location, Rob made the mundane chores interesting and encouraged lively interaction.
Fabulous aquadic life / intersting wreck and reef diving. And best of all only 4 guests per dive not the Jolly Roger party boat of diving at all. You must check his operation out, if you are diving in Anguilla. Steven Witsil

  3. Hey Rob,

I know my dad and I are extremely late, considering we dived with you two years ago, but we both still remember our diving experience with you as if it were yesterday. The experience that we got with you was probably one of the best that we ever had. Julia and you make the daily trips extremely relaxing and comfortable, exactly that what you want when your on an island like Anguilla. Finding you took a while as we didnt know that you dont have a dive center, anyways you really made diving fun and my dad and I still cry out the army commands that you told us like "hit the beach marines", and "sir yes sir". Our experience with you made us feel safe throughout the duration of our trip and the knowledge you have about the dive sites is stunning.

We miss you, all the best,

    Max and Herwig

  4. Hello Rob,

Came all the way from St-Maarten after sailing across the atlantic and had a wonderful day on the boat with you. The dive sites where fun, a very entertaining crew, great service.

A recommended team for those who want to dive without the hassle of having 20 divers in the water and get the opportunity to see much more sealife.

  5. Hi Rob
Just to say many thanks for a great day on my birthday last week, 2 great dives on the wrecks, sorry about missing the lion fish.... hope you get them next time!
To anyone reading this.... A really professional and hospitable guy, bang on time, very safe to dive with and great service, can thoroughly recommend him.
    All best wishes, Phil

  6. Today Rob took me on my very first dive - it was amazing. Although I was a bit 'nervous' (to say the least) and wanted to surface after descending less than 3 metres, Rob was incredibly patient, keeping me calm and as a result, he helped me complete my dive. He is absolutely top drawer and I highly recommend him to anyone considering diving for the first or 100th time (although I may never get that far!). Thanks to Rob and his trusted assistant, Julie. I do indeed feel very brave! Kudos and thanks to you both, Jack

  7. What an amazing experience my husband & I had with Rob at Vigilant Divers. His number one priority was to have "FUN" safely. We had the Cadillac of experiences w/Rob & his wife, Julie. We have gone diving on 6 different Caribbean Islands and we have never had such exclusive attention as we had w/Vigilant Divers. Rob's #1 concern, after safetly, was that we saw what we wanted to see and that we were happy doing it. I would never go back to a "cattle-call" boat. His 1:2 or 1:4 attention enhanced every part of the our diving experience and has totally spoiled me. Thank you for the wonderful memories!!

  8. 2011, Jan 16-28

This was our second time visiting Anguilla and diving with Vigilant Divers. Rob and Julie operate a top notch diving experience. We always feel safe and relaxed. The wrecks we visited had a ton of wild life in and around them. One of my dive buddies lost a dive knife on our first dive. When we got back to the states, there was a message from Rob. He returned to the spot and was able to find it for him...unbelievable!! This year we tried a fishing excursion and had such a fun day. We are already planning our next trip!!

  9. Hi my name is Mark David,
Rob gave me the chance to Scuba Dive, and gain my Open Water Padi Licence.
It was a challenge for me, but Rob made the course easy and very enjoyable.
I always felt in safe hands with Rob and his wife Julie, my fishing buddy!
We have now become good friends.
If you want to dive or learn to dive, Rob Willshire is your man.

  10. Upon arriving at the ship for vigilant divers I wasn't too confident to go SCUBA diving but after a chat wwith Rob, possibly the funniest and most informative instructor ever, I ended up having a whale of a time (sorry about the joke). Cheers Rob!! :D

  11. Great diving experience. They selected the best days to dive and the best sites. I could not have had better dives.

  12. Rob and Julie were super hosts and made our visit to Anguilla that much more special. Rob demonstrated great skill and judgment as a diver instructor and trip leader, as did Julie as keeper of all things topside. We felt like we were on a private diving and site seeing charter. Great experience!

  14. The pre-dive checks acronym – BWRAF – is, as Rob says, best remembered by the phrase Being With Rob is Always Fun. Having completed a PADI Advanced Open Water course with Vigilant Divers I can only agree. Yet behind the fun there is, like the acronym, a serious side to diving; that of diver safety. And with Vigilant Divers there are no compromises, on neither fun nor safety. A day diving with Rob, with the expert assistance and wonderful company of his wife Julie, is a unique blend of underwater excitement and adventure, a Caribbean-style cocktail of the most exotic fruits and finest rum that compliment each other perfectly. I am seriously looking forward to my next dive with Rob and Julie, not only as a step towards Rescue Diver certification but also because they are both such good company and fast becoming great friends.

  15. Rob and Julie (aka "Walter" or "Wally") are amazing. I completed by open water PADI course with Rob and I honestely believe you could not find a better or more professional (not to mention hilarious) instructor. I plan on returning in December to complete my Advanced Open Water and can't wait. See you guys soon!

  16. Our whole family has been diving with Rob guiding us for the past 4 years and he is absolutely the BEST.You can have total confidence (something you need when you are down there at 60ft with 2 teenage boys and scaredy cat me) that everything is under control and safety issues are completely covered. When you are diving with a British Military Veteran like Rob you know you are diving with the the most highly qualified guy around.--- not to mention that he is also just about the most FUN guy anwwhere. Whether you are a seasoned diver or just starting--you couldnt ask for a better guide/teacher. We cant wait to join Rob and Julie on Vigilant next year!

  18. We had a great time with Rob & Julie learning to Scuba dive last year! It was Neil's first time & Rob's dedication to the programme coupled with his patience meant that we were both soon diving like 'old hands'!!

If you're on Anguilla, you'd be a fool to miss out on the amazing sights beneath the waves. You'd be an even bigger fool if you didn't choose to dive with Rob!
Next year, we'll be coming back for more!

  19. I remember when Rob and Julie bought Vigilant and proudly showed my husband, Joe, and I her when she was sitting in Customs at Road Bay. It is so nice to see that now the boat is not just their pleasure craft but their business too.

Rob took me from frightened soul, terrified to flip off the back of the boat and unble to let go of his hand as I was so scared, through the truly grueling Rescue Diver course, to Master Scuba Diver. He is endlessly patient, totally committed to safety, knows his job backwards and is fun with it! A true professional. With unflappable Julie as boat captain, anyone going out with Vigilant Divers is sure of a great day.

Can't wait to dive with them again!

Good luck with the business, Rob and Julie.

  20. On our last visit to the island, Dougies boat was out of the water ,so, having met Rob on a previous trip, we signed up for a days diving. Great boat, great crew, great dives. Rob is adament about pre-dive checks and knowing your own equipment. The reef dive was smooth and luxurious and the wreak dive to 60 ft was fantastic. Jean and I like the small creatures, sponges, and corals. Large Jacks and turtles, with the occasional baracuda were great photo ops. We decided to go fishing the next dayand were rewarded by porposes riding our bow wake, and whales breaching off of Scrub Island. We took the catch to Sammy"s on the beach and he cooked them up for the whole village. Great fun and great friends.

  21. My husband and I dove with Rob and Julie in April of 2009. We only had two days planned on Anguilla (our first time there) as we were spending a couple of weeks on two other islands for more diving. We had great dives with Rob (he is knowledgeable, safety first and fun). We found some of the largest lobsters we have EVER seen, turtles, and so many other "creatures" we had to laughingly ask how he was going to top it! Julie is wonderful and my only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend with our "new friends". And if you think I'm kidding, they were/are invited to come stay with us in CA anytime they can. They are GREAT, fun, interesting and delightful people, and it is a well run operation!!
